Student Skillset

We are dedicated to educating the next generation of job-ready AHAs. We strive to give capacity back to our industry partners and provide early access to their future workforce needs.

By providing our students with hands-on learning opportunities, they are able to build a foundation of knowledge and skills to enter the workplace with the ability to execute a vast range of tasks.

Placement Partnership Experience

Industry placement provides the next generation of AHAs with the opportunity to work alongside a diverse range of qualified AHPs and establish professional networks for future employment.

Placement Partnerships form an integral part of our students' skills development and career journey as they work towards becoming qualified Allied Health Assistants.

Allied Health Assistance

Our students are there to provide assistance, allowing AHPs to execute safer, better quality, and at times more challenging exercise prescription for their clients.

Educated in a range of clinical and non-clinical skills, our students are expected to work autonomously in support of AHPs. This gives back valuable time for the AHP to have a mental break between sessions, complete admin, or discuss scheduling with clients.

Supervisor Mentoring

The placement experience is an opportunity for both the student and the placement partner.

While the organisation benefits from an additional skilled team member, the student will benefit from work-integrated-learning through the mentoring of their designated supervisor.

Students must be supervised by a staff member who holds a qualification or relevant experience that is equal to or higher than the qualification the student is undertaking with ERA.

Placement Evaluation

Student competency is gathered throughout the duration of the students' program and is collected by ERA's qualified Assessors.

As part of the students' overall assessment, we seek evidence to support the judgement about a students' competence within the workplace.

Placement supervisors will complete a short Student Placement Evaluation form provided by ERA at the conclusion of the placement block.

Our Industry Partners

Our goal for students is to provide a placement opportunity tailored to the skills and qualifications needed for their future careers.

To meet our goal, we strive to build a diverse range of placement opportunities in both hospital and community settings, across Greater Melbourne and Regional Victoria.

"The placement block is pretty much a daily job interview. Five out of the last seven EP’s to work for The Next Step were students and with us prior to being employed.

In a pool of applicants, knowing they had completed a placement with us and understand our policies/procedures and clientele would certainly place them above the rest."
