This qualification is internationally recognised by the International Society for the Advancement of Kinanthropometry (ISAK). Participants will walk away with a range of practical skills used by sport and fitness professionals to profile a client’s body composition. This course focuses on teaching you the practical skills and knowledge required to measure an individual’s body composition using standardised measurement techniques advocated by practitioners around the world. It is essential for those seeking to work with elite athletes as part of a high performance team and those seeking reliability in their measures of clients. Successful accreditation is based upon participants meeting the minimum required score in the practical exam, 16 marks from a total of 20.
Dr. Melissa Arkinstall, an ISAK Level Three international instructor, will lead the 3 day course. Dr Arkinstall, has over 10 years’ experience as a sports scientist working at high performance level. Work alongside Melissa and the ERA team in our nationally accredited sports science facility to become proficient in this area of measurement and add value to your existing client services.
Participants will learn how to:
- Measure an individual’s skin-folds & girths
- Calculate an individual’s somatotype (body shape)
- Calculate an individual’s % body fat
- Monitor changes in an individual’s body composition
- Develop a body composition report template to give to your clients
